Alright I'm trying to replace my fuel pump on my car but I'm getting stuck early. My question is you get to the 5 butterfly clips holding the rear seatback to the sun panel by prying behind the seatbacks correct? I can't really see behind the rear seatbacks so if I use a flathead screwdriver how can I feel the butterfy clips loosening, how far do I have to pry and where exactly are they located behind the seats? Thanks for any help you can give me

A bit of advice. If your fuel pump shut down and that is why you are replacing it, you will also need to install a new control unit. If you are replacing it because of the humming noise and it did not shut down, you are okay.

No I'm ok my fuel pump is just humming. Anyhow this screw is getting to be annoying. I went to sears and bought a damaged screw head remover kit and tried using the #6 screw bit... wore out the screw alot- what is the best method to use?

What screw is this? The ones that hold the seatback to the rear bulkhead?

Shouldn't be a problem unless corroded.

Yes its the far left screw as you are facing the back window that attaches the seatback to the structure. It is the only one that is weak, the others went out very easy. It started to wear the first time I tried to turn it.

So are you saying you used an ill fitting wrench and rounded the head?

If so, grab some vice grips and turn it out. Get a SS one from somewhere to replace it. Remember, it is metric. Save it to match. Get two to replace the other one.

I'll try that. I used the correct size screw driver the first time around and the metal was wearing already(phillips #2). The screw remover was too big and took it out. I posted this thread as I was going through the tangalora how-to and seems like I don't have the 4 butterfly clips holding the seatback to my car either.

What year is you Q mine is a 1994 and did not have butterflys just standard bodypanel clips.

You release them from the trunk (The White ones) with some needle nose plyers.

Yeah like I posted in Tangalora's thread. Use sockets on the bolts also, not blades.
