1991 S13 240sx KA24DEalright so far, i have a set of 272 degree stage 2 turbo cams, a set of eagle rods, exhaust ramhead manifold,an sr20 down pipe, turbo outlet pipe, and im ordering a set of JE pistons (9.0:1cr) on Friday. Now Say i wanted to be Able to hold say 25-30psi daily. would this be enough motorwise? im not looking to get over 500 hp. just over 380 with the potential to go to 500(justincase ) what wouldyou guys suggest my next part purchases should be?what size turbo?/type of turbo (lookin to start spoolin by 3500-4500)whatsize injectors? what fuelpump?wouldthis engine setup enable me to rev past 7Krpms? (jw)what are some common mistakes that are usually made that i should look out for when turboin a KA?ANY feedback would be appreciated.

A 50 trim and built motor will put you around 400 with a good reliable tune,It has the potential for 500hp but it's really pushing the turbo..

Eagle rods are only recommended for 450-500whp

25-30psi is alot of boost for a daily... I would find a good tuner and see what they recommend.

What tuning (rom tune/aem ems) are you going to go with?

I'd run the biggest injectors your tuner can handle, and a walbro 255 should be enough

A really common thing with people running KA's is revving too high. If you look at dyno sheets, the KA never really makes power past the higher 6Ks and revving past 7K is kind of silly. You're better off tuning for a wider power band then trying to move it higher.

The difference between high 300 rwhp and 500 rwhp doesn't sound like a lot, but it is HUGE. Even the different between 300 and 350 and 400 is noticeable in the 'butt dyno'.

i shouldhave said,i want something capeableof running 380- low 400's daily, amd pushable to high 400's incase someone somehow passes me. i would have it set somewhere around 280-320 for daily for much less wear/ more reliability and longer lifespan on the motor/turbo.

as for the ecu, I was just thinkin of goin with a piggyback. atleast thats what a friend reccomended. would you agree? or reccomend something else.

personally, i want to go with a 60 trim, orwould you guys reccomend against it?

yeah, i have been reading about all the work you needto do to the KA justto get maybe another 800 rpms worth ofpower. I completly agree with what you say about widening the band instead of making it higher. a few friends just said i shouldbe ableto take it closeto 8000 with the rods. not that i would, buti was just wonderin, i dont usually got past 6, 6.5 anyways.

not sure who your friends are, but 8k on a basic build is just asking for a blown motor. stick to the stock redline

piggy backs are a no, I recommend a rom tune, JWT, enthalpy, efi specialist..

I also recommended a 50 trim(best low end & up to 450whp turbo), not a 60, and I stick to that.

You need way more then rods to be able to hit 8K and have any sort of reliability. The head doesn't flow, even with valves/cams/etc. very much past 6.5-6.8. The KA24DE is just not a rev-happy motor. I usually see like 80% of my peak power from 3.5K up. That's damn good enough for me.
