For a working Bose head unit for the J30, $100 is a steal. Of course, make sure the thing works properly. If you decide to put in your own cd player, it's going to cost quite a bit, and you can't use just any old CD player. I won't get too technical (because I don't understand all the details myself) but I've read that to use a retail head unit (i.e., something other than what the car came with), you would need to replace all the speakers as well. This is because the Bose factory head unit outputs line level, and each speaker, in effect, has its own amplifier. Most retail head units output pre-amped audio signals which would blow out your current speakers. Not to mention, the wiring harnesses that connect to your Bose head unit won't connect to any other radio (as far as I know).

Like I said, I'm no expert in this area. Search NICO or other Infiniti J30 forums for more information.

The short answer though, is yes, $100 is a good deal for a *working* Bose head unit. You won't find a better deal on eBay.

Apparently I was slightly off. Carlos has some good stuff posted on his J30 website (fuzzycats.com).

See http://www.fuzzycats.com/docs/bose_replacement.pdf if you plan to buy an aftermarket head unit rather than the Bose one.

Remember any other nissan bose in dash CD player will drop right in with a $5 adapter from Joe......! and do not have the spontaneous death problems that the J30 HU does.

What did you end up doing?

I would have recommended that you just get the PAC adaptor and get an aftermarket HU

I agree...throw away the bose system and buy an aftermarket deck...preferably an Alpine...

All you need is this part and you can put any aftermarket radio you want in.

No the one above is not to be confused with the adapter that joe sells. The one that joe sells is the pre 94 to 95+ adapter. The nissan bose HU connections are the same, however they changed the harness connector for the 95+ bose models... So you just simply get the adapter and its a plug and play.

Ok, looking at the info in the link, Carlos substituted the search criteria for his 95 J30 with a 95 Maxima. Would the same work if I substituted 93 J30 info with 93 Maxima info?
