i am completing my third sohc to dohc swap and as i go to put the positive on, and the positive terminal sparked and blows the alternator fuse. everythig on the alternator is tightly secured but the only thing i noticed is this alternator's plastic cover on the positive conection is broken off. i am hoping that is what it is. just want some opinions.

That plastic bit is pretty important. Just make sure you get the plastic part on first.

yeah, that plastic piece insulates the main power wire from shorting to the alternator case on most alternators.

much appreciated guys but now i have a new problem. i CAN NOT find a replacement fuse. and i really dont feel like going to the yard with my schedule. not even the stupid dealership has it. i want to drive my coupe damn it.
