I have a 1986.5 4X4 w/Z24 engine. Can anybody tell me the diameter of the front pipe? Mine has deteriorated and broke at the weld where the two pipes conjoin. I prefer to rebuild but I need to know what size pipe to get.

(truck is at a different location so I can't just go outside and measure)

I called and had my nephew try a 2" adapter and the truck's pi[pe is a bit smaller than that.

I think it's 1 7/8, but I'm not 100% sure. I remember having a hell of a time finding the right adapter to clamp on at the auto parts store. Now that I think about it, I think I ended up just rigging an adapter that was a tad too large because I got sick of f***ing with all of them. Can't you measure it? Press a piece of cardboard into the pipe to make an impression, and then measure that to the adapters at the store.

Remember, you can always have an adapter that is a tad too small expanded slightly to fit. If you do get one expanded, make sure you tell them exactly how much so they don't over-do it.
