Just a quick question for you.. I have no idea how good you are with engines.. so don't be insulted if this is a very elementary question.. but it's good to cover all the bases.
A lot of people with 240's have a problem with the timing chain guides. They make all kinds of noise and clatter and often mistaken for other things. Rod knock should be a different sound, but.. you never know..
I'd hate to see you scrap an engine due to the timing chain guides.. it's a very easy repair.
Again.. you may be completely positive that it's rod knock... and I might be way off.. I just have no idea what competance level people are at until they post a little more often and share there experience level.
