I don't wanna hear anything about swapping in the sr20 at this time because I can't afford on my budget. My question is, which is cheaper: to rebuild my ka24e or put a different one in? cylinder number two is at 31 psi, so i know it needs eithe rone or the other. If a few members could shout out the price they paid for either one of these it would be a great help to me..

i say rebuild it. if you do it yourself, you may be able to get away with doing it for less than a grand.

you may have more peace of mind knowing you have a brand new rebuild with a warranty, you can usually get them for under 1000. if you want to rebuild your engine yourself, hopefully you have some prior experience, or know someone who has. if you buy your parts from import engine parts wholesaler you can rebuild it for 700-800. That is if you dont get jacked on the machine work, find a good machinist. if your going that route you might as well get some high compression pistons, and a cam. i recommend ITM gasket and timing chain kits, pci timing chain kits, ROL headgasket and headbolts. I have not been able to find the 9.1:1 pistons in aftermarket. ITM, Badger, Silvolite, Wiseco etc..... do not make them. if you want to bore it over with 8.6:1 use ITM pistons. you can get the pistons w/or without ITM rings, Hastings rings are available.

edit: heres an ebay offering http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33615

nissan motorsports is the only company that offers them. you can always have them custom made.

I don't have experience rebuilding an engine myself, that's why I am going to purchase a ka24e and replace it myself. I should be able to get an engine for a good price from Daunttless since I live only half hour away from him.

Yes that is true. kb silvolite used to make them a few years back i guess but phased them out with the newer models. i was just informing that it is impossible to get new 9.1:1's for a decent price. because anyone researching on rebuilding their ka24e would come across this option.

yes it is probably the best to get that daunttless deal, since it is local, and cheap.
