starting with a very healthy ka with 185 psi across the board. i originally had the car set to 10 deg timing upon turboing it but it didnt feel that healthy or impressive so i bumped it to 15 deg.felt much better for over a month, theni talked to enthalpy about my tune he said set it to base which is 20deg so im like w00t more power.yeeaaa it was a recipe for a smokey motor in 3 days of fairly relaxed driving with occasional boosting, so i need a good short block.. anybody got somthing? i kno these sr guys toss them in the garbage left and right (they're scared of displacement) lol

no help on the block, but I do have a ?
did you send the ecu off for a retune and then bump timing? You should always be set to stock timing, before a tune is installed.

Also are you 1000% sure the motor was in timing set mode? if you set it to 20 out of timing mode at idle you set it 2* advanced. just saying a stock tune sits between 18~20* at idle.

I just grabbed a long block from craigslist for $100 from an SR guy. I haven't run it yet cause I'm being lazy about swapping it but looks real clean and supposed to have about 80k.

we just have to face it guys ka's are getting harder to source, unless you are in the right spot. I've got them from 150 bux to 400 bux, I've seen em go for less and seen em go for almost a grand. Last one I bought was 350 and was a grenade waiting to happen. Sure it was all new parts, but when half the bolts are finger tight...

rebuild?

Yeah, I'm not 100% confident but for the price I had to take the chance.
