Points went down so I had to switch my insurance policy. Turns out when I had points insurance was cheaper because I had a better policy. Right now I have GE and they threating to bump the insurance to $4800 for a 2001 Pathfinder and 1998 240sx. This is just basic coverage. If I crash and it's my fault I pay for my car. Anyways, as you can see that's way too much. Does anyone know a cheaper insurance company in New Jersey that will take me? I'm under my dad's name and he's got 3 points on the lisence. I'm 17 and you automatically get 3 points because your young and 1 point gets nocked off each year.

Thanks guys and we would realy appreciate it.

I'm insured with Allstate of NJ. For full coverage on the Camaro, liability on the 240, I pay about $1800 a year.

However, I'm 27 and married, have no points, never had any points, so...I'm in a way different risk class, even despite the sports cars.

NJ will screw you over when you're 17. They charged me $2500 a year for my '90 S13 (back in 1994) and there wasn't anything I could do about it. The only way to "beat the system" is to have USAA.

the best automotive insurance policy in NJ is called New Jersey Manufacture Insurance company IMO... they offer the lowest rates last time i checked and also if you re clean for the whole year (no accidents/tickets).. you get anything from 200-500 dollars cash back. there are some conditions you have to meet.. dont kno what it is.. but i think the most important one is that it has to be offered to you by your company.. so if you work, ask your company whether they re on the NJM's list.

Ok I'll let my dad know about it. I thought they only take you if you have NO points. I have 3 points because I'm 17 and everyone gets 3 points when they first start out. My dad has 2 or 3 points for rolling through a stop sign at 3am. Just him and the cop out...

EDIT: O yea, is there a number for that insurance company?

you dont' really get 3 points when your 17... this is a what the insurance company classifies you as.. thru DMV you have no points... you never got a ticket... but the insurance charges you as a person who has 3 points in their license.. but cause your a 17 and male.... so they think your a risk... ok.. jsut wanted to clear that up... but man.. jersey insurances are very expensive. we get majorly as$ raped... New Jersey Manufacture Insurance Comp. are very picky about who they accept as members., and from what i heard your employer has to be envoled somehow.. i remember reading their appliacation., and they detailedly search your driving record., if you have points (like your dad has).. you might get rejected or not get the best quotes... i'd suggest just calling up companies and getting prices.,
