Hi All,

I've recently got an alpine CD changer put in my trunk for my 95 Q45. The sound was not so pleasing as the sound was fed to the stereo via the FM modulator. I had the whole thing yanked out but I still want to be able to listen some CDs in my car.

I really don't want to replace the whole sound system, just the dash unit. Don't need a cassette player either, just something that won't look ugly and will let me listen to CDs without the need of an FM modulator and/or without anything trunk mounted.

Does anyone have an idea of an indash cd player that I can buy? Everybody keeps telling me that I'd have to get a factory one for around $600 or risk getting the whole sound system changed (around $1200).

Thanks All!Danny

No...recievers these days are only like 200-300 (for good ones!) if you wanted you could replace your stock speakers, fronts would cost less than $60 if their the 4" ones and the rear 6x9s would cost around $80. If you wanted some low end you could add an amp ($100-150) and a sub would cost you $50 (8" to 10") and a box and wiring kit around 100. Thats even if you wanted some low end, because bass does bring out things you've never heard otherwise. A reciever, 2 pairs of speakers should cost you in the area or $300-400 and to add a sub around $600 for everything. If you've never installed a stearo before check out crutchfield.com (they give you step by step instructions for you sepecific car and life time support. Best Buy also does installs for $30 (reciever) and $30 each pair of speakers. So to get it installed its going to be close to 90.

Other GREAT car audio places

http://www.thezeb.com ($7 shipping and lowest prices)http://www.sounddomain.com (good prices and reviews)

If you need any help just write back.

Thanks for the info.

Two more questions.

My J30 had an in-dash Bose CD/Am/FM/Cass unit. Do you think if I find a used J30 in-dash unit, it'd fit in the Q45 as well?

Does anyone know if 95 or 96 Q45s ever came with an in-dash CD Player?

Thanks a Bunch!

You have a couple of options available:1) install a customized system and completely replace the exising one, which has already been mentioned in this thread. This typically involves getting new speakers as the current ones have built-in amplifiers.2) replace your current head unit with one that has an in-dash CD player. I replaced the head unit on my 98 I30 with one from a 98 Pathfinder, works great and I got a newer head unit. Trick with this is finding out from the dealer which years and model head units are compatible or the model #s of compatible units.3) Use your pre-wiring to add a CD changer. I bought a CD changer from a dealer and wired it under the passenger seat because I didn't want it in the trunk and also didn't want to mount it. You could pull your pre-existing wiring from the trunk, put the CD changer under the seat, and be good to go. 4) Buy a CD changer interface from Soundgate, model ALNS1, that allows you to use an Alpine M bus changer. The adapter through Circuit City is $120 and had to be special ordered. I could not find another vendor that made an interface adapter that would allow aftermarket CD changers to work with the factory system.

I have an extra CD changer from my recent purchase at the dealer because I just needed the wiring harness to complement a recent E-bay purchase. You would have to contact a dealer to see if Nissan part #B8183-C9961 is compatible with your 95 as I am not 100% sure, though I am fairly confident. Let me know if you are interested.

You might look on ebay, there is a in dash cd player, not sure its what you want........

Just go to home site and type Q45 in the (find it) and look thru the listings, to see if it is still there. I've been looking also. The listing says it will work in a 96' for about $100 + shipping if you win bid. Hope this is what your looking for...........make sure you check it out with your dealer before you bid!

i have a similar situation, but all i want to do is get a cd player, replace door and rear speakers and add a 4 channel amp with an equalize in preferably kenwood,

do you recommend sound damping the rear deck for vibration?

also i have a cd change now, can i still use this with in dash sc unit?

You will have to get a Reciever that supports the size cd changer you have (10 disk, right) so look for one that accepts a 10disk cd changer. Replacing the door speakers will newer speakers is also a good idea, the rear are usually 6x9s and the fronts are 4" you might wanna check up on that, go to http://www.crutchfield.com and "select you vehical" and it will tell you the size speakers you have, it will also tell you which Reciever will fit. I dont suggust buying from Crutchfield since they have high prices, but use it to find out what fits. You could a sound denting material, such as home instualtion, or other, but dynamot is overpriced. Check out http://www.sounddomain.com some times they give away stuff like that for amps, speakers, etc.

My 95 Q has the in-trunk Sony ten CD changer with the disk and song controls in the in-dash Bose unit. I do not know if it was standard or a dealer optional add-on at the time.

I do know it was optional in my 91 Q and I had to pay something extra for it. The control for it mounted in the arm-rest area - in front of the built-in phone that I had.
