OK I'm posting here cause 3si absolutely sucks when it comes to responses. I know this isn't a 3000gt forum, but brakes systems all work on the same premise.

Alright, so I bled my brakes the other day, got ALL of the fluid out of the lines (it looked nasty...) and refilled with fresh fluid (dot4+ synthetic). Got the air out of the lines, took it out for a run. It felt really sluggish on braking, while before the brakes were really sensitive. Today, I try to see if theres any more air in the system, so I go and try to bleed the air out of all four brakes. Few bubbles come out of one caliper, nothing out of the others. When the car is off, I build pressure, and it holds the pressure. Now when I turn the car on, I lose all pressure in my brakes (pedal drops to the floor). I'm not putting my car on the road until I can rectify this, so for right now its sitting on jackstands...

Damn overgrown DSM...

Were you adding new fluid as you bled the old?

Sorry for the dumb question but it's not clear from your post...

Also, where is your fluid level now? I have heard of damage being done by too aggressive brake bleeding, damaging the diaphragm.

No I wasn't adding new fluid as I bled it. Bled them dry, added new fluid, bled all the air out.

BUT--its working fine now, brakes are nice and firm again. All I have to deal with now is a leaky abs unit. (Yay for me)

Thank you Greg and James.

Dude - don't ever do that again. Seriously.

You can achieve the same result by adding the fresh fluid to the reservoir AS you bleed each wheel cylinder.... Any time air enters the system it's a bad thing.

The ABS has to be bled as well. I've only done it on a Supra and it was only a matter of opening the bleed valve and jumping an electrical connection. I'd suspect mosty ABS systems are similar. In any case, any air you may have had in there may have ended up in a location where it could be bled. Sucks that it's leaking now.

It was leaking before I bled it. And thanks for the advice Greg.

I used a combination of my hydraulic floor jack and my ghetto OMFG my wheel blew out on the side of the highway stock scissor jack to get this thing lifted. Quite a feat to say the least. And pads are coming soon, but I had to change the fluid.
