I lost brakes a month ago so I bought new pads and cals in the back, and rotors and pads up front and one cal on the driverside. then I bleed the brakes, now if I hit the pedal a bunch of times they get stiff, but as soon as i let off they go soft again. anything special i have to do. no abs by the way and the cars a 1990 240sx.

Bleed the system again, and make sure no air gets in. The bleed order is LR-RR-LF-RF. Do not drive the car until the brakes work well.

Make sure you dont have any leaks.

Your master cyl could have gone bad too.

We had a simalar problem. you need to bleed the cr@p out of the system. I have bleed a number of systems over the years but never one that took so long to get the air out. Take advantage of this and flush your system while you are at it. It won't hurt anything and you can tell by the clean fluid coming out that you should be getting the air out.

Once we finaly got all the air out the brakes woked fine. Took us about 5 or 6 tries before we got all the air out. (we did replace the MC and that did account for some of the air getting in the system.)
