ok guys. while drifting or doing anything else I slide around way too much. so instead of getting a $150 seat I need better seat belts. I was thinking about a 5- or 4 point harness. would these be safe to use with no roll cage? also is there any safe way to mount them with no roll cage? I know they are supposed to be mounted high.

If you drift then maybe you shouldn't install 4,5 point harness seat belts without a roll cage. The main reason really is the harness keeps you glued to the seat in the upright position (this is good) but the rule is, What if you roll over to the top side of your car? you would still be in the upright position, the roof could get crushed and then your head would also be crushed!

Well if you dont' think that you will flip then it okay to install one. My brother has a Willans 4 point harness without a rollcage for autocross but he usually doesn't like to use it for daily driving. one more thing he has a non adjustable 3 point TRD rear tower bar he attaches 2 of the point to. yeah i would still keep my regular seat belts for regular use. and I also don't think I would flip over. I'm very safe with drifting.

you need to make sure that you dont attach the harnes to the back seat clips or anything lower than the level of the seat hole they will go though. if you dont and get in a crash, they will pull down and damage your spine, not good

Quote »It is strongly recommended that the shoulder harnesses are fitted as close to horizontal as possible. It is a must that the angle of the shoulder harness does not exceed 45 degrees in relation to the theoretical horizontal axis of the mounting points. It is recommended that the harnesses be mounted to the fixing points suggested by the car manufacturer. The fixing points should always be reinforced by a steel plate fitted on the outer side of the car, not by welding or pop riveting. [/quote]

Why don't you want to get a seat? I'm sure those seats on ebay hold you in just as good as my bro's seat? do you have something against seats? don't want to be ricey?

You know that good quailty harness are about the same price you are looking to spend about $80 for Willan average harness for one side. These are track (TUV,FIA, Ect.) certified, If you want the best Quality look for FIA this is the most rigid of test for the race car safety cerification. If you go with non-certified hareness, would you trust your life with stuff like that? good luck!

I would not trust a strut bar with my life. The only correct methods are an externally reinforced eye-bolt setup or a harness bar located behind the seat.

This is not performance, it is your life and safety. A friend of mine suffered spinal compression which along with his broken collar bones, as a result of the harness pulling down, left him in the hospitol for 2 months. Following that he underwent months of physical therapy. It's not worth it.

Do it correctly or don't do it at all, for the sake of your own personal safety.

its running excellent! I cracked a DE (9.5:1 CR) piston about a month after I installed the motor, so I put a set of stock DET pistons in there and have been boosting now for quite awhile now with NO problems! It realy moves nicely:D
