I recently bought a 1999 LE Pathy after my first one had too problems like the fuel pump, oil leaks all over the place, electrical shorts in the fuse box. The one I recentley bought, same model and year, is having the same problem. Has anyone else had these problems? Thanks

ive got a 1999 qx4 which has the same engine and mechanical parts as your pathfinder.... 185k miles... never had any of the problems you mentioned.

Those are not common problems to Nissan.... electrical shorts in the fuse box??? like what???

Haven't heard of any of these problems as common problems with R50s. Could you elaborate on the problems? What's wrong with the fuel pump, for example, and what kind of "shorting out" is going on in the fuse box? Where's the oil seem to be leaking from? Do you do your own work or take it to a garage... and have you done any mods or changed out any parts?

Of the top of my head... the fuel pump relies on the gas for lubrication. If you make it a habit of running the Pathy nearly dry before filling up, over time it'll take it's toll on the fuel pump. Electrical problems can stem from any electrical work that's been done recently, such as a bad install of a remote starter. And oil can come from anywhere... are you applying oil to the gasket on the oil filter, tightening the oil filter properly, and torquing the oil pan bolt good?

If these rare kind of problems are happening on both your Pathfinders, then try and find some common denominator. Same mechanic, same mods, etc.
