Actually, it would stay in gear when I held the shifter. But I didn't buy the car. I noticed that 4th had a bit of a grind. The syncros where probably damaged to the point that the shift fork could slide out of gear. I dunno.MainEvent212 wrote:try it w/ your hand holding the shifter in place

I've torn apart a Honda B-series transmission. Replaced the input shaft bearing, only to discover the whirring noise I had been hearing was my clutch disc, not the bearing.HwnStylin wrote:transmission popping out of gear is due to a bad synchro or gear. if it were me, i'd tear it apart and rebuild it. but if you dont have experience with rebuilding trannys, buy a new one.
