Need alternator for 90 240sx

Hey...My alternator just went out on my 240...i was wondering if anyone may have one lyin around...or haz a 240 they're parting out...or knowz where i can get 1 for cheap...i called around at napa auto partz and kragen and all thoze...they want over 160...where can i get 1 cheaper??? thankz...i live in the SF bay area by the way...

is it the same alternator as in the DOHC motor?

i dont know it most likely is the same alternator...ill take it if u have 1 4 sale...

well, doing a search on the 2 different engines/cars <i used 89 and 92 years...>

the 92 had 3 kinds of alternators: 2x 80A lifetime #14987 beck arnley #186-0509 & 1x 90A #186-0721

the 89 had 2 kinds: 80A lifetime #14883 & beck arnley 80A #186-0509

hmm, i recalled some models had mitsubishi alternators, while others <i've never seen it> have hitachi alternators...

waitamin, u got both in front of you; Y not just check & confirm???better yet, bring both in to be "bench tested" for free:ylsuper

what iz bench tested...???and where can i get that done? and i only have one alternator...not 2...thankz...

when u pull the alternator off your car & walk up to the parts counter guy sayin, "I want it tested, please"

if he/she does it & reads a low reading <indicating worn out brushes> or excessively high/no reading <maybe the rectifier is shot/shorted>

taking it off car & tested ok= might have problems w/ wiring or battery.... lookit http://www.autozone.com for more info hope u have that store nearby; i dunno if napa does it.

Did u went to 2BN_S13's link to the "buy,sell,trade section" yet???

you can have them bench test their used alternator <if u wanna go that route> & have the seller give u the stats before shipping it to ya...
