Hello,

Hoping to receive a n advise on two Q45 that I am considering.91 with 175 miles without chain guide upgrade. Very clean in & out considering the high mileage. Everything looks OK except the chain guides. Price $ 2500.

95 with 153 miles. Lots of performace upgrades. Sarona bodykit, N1 DUAL EXHAUST,LOWERED EIBACH SUSPENSION, CROSS DRILLED AND SLOTTED ROTORS, 18' KATANA RIMS, STILLEN INTAKE. Rebuilt trans @ 125K. PriceL:$6000.

Both car is located in San Jose, CA area.

Any advise?

Thanks much in advance.

dont buy either without documented proof of maintenance history of regular oil changes, going as far back as possible-both have a ton of miles on them, which is ok,but only if they have received REGULAR oil changes-there are way too many cars out there to settle for a poorly maintained one.you cant start an aggressive maintenance schedule now and make up for a spotty one by the previous owner{s},just search this board if you need proof of this.

neither. Too many miles on both. Look for something with under 100k if you are wanting to drive it daily.

maintenance is a definite must and you must be prepared to spend good $$ to keep it running close to OEM specs as these are not cheap cars to maintain.....

Considering that probably 75%+ of the Q owners on here have well over 100K and use the car as a daily driver, the mileage (mid 100's) should not be the main factor if it has been maintained properly.

I agree, if maintained mileage isnt much of an issue. Many owners here have nearly 200k on their Q and they drive daily. Tomorrow Jesda is heading up to my crib, a 900 mile round trip on his Q with 190k!

This is SO true, and this bit of advice cost me $5500 on my last Q.... I will ***NEVER**** buy another USED CAR, much less a Q45, without knowing its full history. Bare minimum for these 2 cars you must know exactly what has happened from say 30-60k to current.....

Personally, for a higher mileage Q (like your mentioning), id pay no more than 2000 and thats only if cosmetics were above reproach... However for the same mileage and condition, but a full history (and a good history) Id easily double that....

Bottom line: PAY MORE NOW and you will pay a LOT LESS later.. You can fix cosmetic stuff, but you CANNOT easily fix the mechanical abuse (lack of maintenece) by the previous owners........!

I wouldn't get the 91. Your going to spend enough money on stuff without having to spend money on guides. The 95 looks a little pricy to me. If the maintanace looks good offer him no more than $5k. Sounds like a nice ride.

Doc's Q is a HELL of a buy.... Definitely worth every penny, and the HIDs to boot!

Thanks everyone.

I am going to check out both cars in person. (not too far)I will definitely request maintenance history on each cars.I am leaning toward 95, as it has most of the upgrades that I was hoping for. ( and more)

Doc’s Q is really nice and reasonably priced, but I am in Northern California. It’s a long way from northeast.

Thanks

Road Trip.

I flew to Omaha, NE to buy a beautiful 240SX a year ago & drove it back to Orlando, FL.

Also drove to Austin, TX from Orlando to pass the baton on my 97 Pathfinder on to another member from Phoenix.

Unless emisssions is an issue on these older cars (Doc's 49 state car)

I just bought a sweet 1994 Q45t, from San Jose, last month. It was a long drive, back to Alabama.

97,000 miles for $4,500.00

It had all the major servcie and maintenance done to it. Anthony bought it off-lease, in 1997, and has taken good care of it.

I am sure you will find one better than the 2 you listed. I would not think of asking over $3,000 for my Silver one, with 209,000 miles on it. It runs like a top. I am not interested in selling it, since I still drive it daily. The black one is for back-up & driving to church on Sunday.

You will put roughly $2,000 in the '95, and $4,000 in the '91 to get them up to snuff, unless the previous owners knew what they were doing (most don't - except NICO members).

My Q, which I bought with 169k, has a meticulously well-maintained engine and transmission. But other items like the water pump and such can add up. Here's my records:

JY2004 I have a 91 Q with 108,000. Chain guides replaced last year, both O2 sensors, and water pump were replaced at the same time. Last week I changed the TCU for a 93 so the Q has first gear start.

I live a little north of you in Concord. If you’re still looking for a Q and think you might be interested in mine let me know and we can get together so you can check it out.
