Need Advise on pulling Head off motor

Ok, the motor is out of the car, intake and exhaust manifold are off, transmission is separated, valve cover is off, cams r next either tonite or tomorrow.

What else is needed to yank this head off so that i can see what damage has been done...

the front sprocket bolted to the head for the upper and lower timign chains needs to come off. then jsut hte head bolts.

you may not be able to see any damage this way. the damage is most likely the rings lands. you would have to pull off the oil pan and bolt the crank and rods to see the sides of the pistons

On my project engine, I left the sproket on the chain to keep it from falling out. I also just took the rods off the crank and left the crank in its track. But thats just me.

EDIT: Also make sure you remove the head bolts according to the FSM. If you don't, you could warp the head.
