Hello everyone! Before I begin let me just say that I've spent hours on researching this topic and tried to find my answers but some of the posts were dated so I don't know if any of the information has changed and I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right. First I'll start out by giving you the details of my ride. 2007 M35x with 120k miles and everything is stock. My friend just got me a set of wheels and tires as a gift and the wheels are 20x10 w/ a 45 offset all the way around with 245/35/20 tires. The lip of the wheels does come out of the fender VERY slightly and only noticeable when you really examine it. The tires are stretched a good amount and they fit in the wheel well just fine. But the wheel well gap is really bad now so i really need to drop the car, and I know that the options might be somewhat limited since I have an AWD model. Heres my questions

1. Am I only able to install Espelir springs? I've heard that it might be a bad idea to install the springs made for RWD versions and through my research I can't find many options besides the Espelir, which are pretty pricey for just springs. Tanabe makes springs that they say fit all models but I'm not sure how reliable that claim is.

2. Will installing new springs on my car shorten the life span of my struts? I feel like my struts are probably fine as of right now but I'm not sure how often people typically replace them.

Howdy,

As far as I know Espelir springs is the 'safest' bet for AWD cars...but personally I would just get coilovers. D2's and BC's are all sub-$1,000.

As for the struts, at 120kmi, I'd be shocked they last any longer. If they do, you'll be changing them soon anyway. Which again, is why I recommend coilovers. You'll pay $400-500 or whatever the Espelir's cost + $500 for new struts in a few thousand miles...when you could just spend that money and get coilovers.

It's basically the same price.
