well i'm planning on ordering a motor/extra stuff for my S14 this week and here's my list so far

-S14 SR20DET-FMIC kit w/ piping (probably greddy)-heavy throttle hotpipe w/ greddy bov -heavy throttle 3" downpipe-K&N popcharger-walbro Hi-Flow fuel pump (255lph)-SVR Slim Battery-Spec Stg. 1 clutch-heavy throttle harness ($300) seems like it's worth it-boost gauge-Apex'i AVC-R ?? not sure if it is what i want-Denso 550 injectors-Greddy Exhaust -J30 VLSD

here are my questions...1. in regards to the AVC-R, i want somethin that can take advantage of the larger injectors, and also up boost to around 12 psi. the AVC-R can do this, right?

2. are the 550 injectors even needed on the stock turbo? i figure the injectors would let me run 12 psi safely...

3. i dont want to bother with a ECU adjustment yet, so i was wondering if the AVC will do, or if i need something else

4. instead of the greddy exhaust, could i just have a custom one welded up using a real Greddy muffler? or would that be not as good?

5. am i missing anything? what do you think of my list? change it if you think it should be...

i'm looking in specific for what the real shop guys have to say about this, as well as anyone else that is educated in this area.

S13 SR20DET redtop 2500FMIC kit 799BOV kit 2993" downpipe 159K&N popcharger 55Walbro Fuel Pump 119SVR Slim Battery 109Spec Stg 1 Clutch 299Harness Wiring 300Boost Gauge 64Apex'I N1 Single 415Apex'I S-AFC 339NISMO motor mounts 275DNA boost controller 95

well this is my new list...i figure i can cut alot of costs w/ the S13 redtop instead...and i dont think the power difference will be all that much...anyways, i'll probably have a new turbo w/in a year

these are all heavy throttle prices so far...if anyoen can help me out, please do

well u wont have to upgrade the ECU yet since you are going to get the Apexi S-AFC. you can do all the tuning you need for right now off of that.

safc= band-ade

ecu reprogram= proper solution

but for such little upgrades, SAFC might be a better investment?

yeah, like sean said, that is the main diffrence between S14 and S13. bigger turbo and S14 has a VTC unlike the S14. so there might be a bigger power diffrence than you thought

well from what i hear, the power difference is about 10 whp...which is, for 1000 dollars difference, perfectly fine with me.

what i would like to know though, is where else can i shave costs?

$12 mbc? instead of a $90 one...

or run stock mounts for awhile?

or even run stock sidemount for awhile (with low boost!)

I haven't used them myself, so I know nothing about quality... but I've heard they work decent for a manual boost controller:)

if your stock mounts are in good condition, then I would use them...

and side mount isn't THAT bad (temporarily at least), its just not bling;)

:Werd

I'm running the SMIC right now and the car is still fun to drive. Even at stock boost, the car has more than enough power to get you quickly pulled over.

If you're serious about saving money right now, then hold off on the FMIC until you get a turbo upgrade.

enjuku or heavy throttle. I believe enjuku is a little cheaper, they definitely know what they are doing though and they need your original harness too Btw

I'll have a link for you in an hour or so... but, you are correct "enjuku" is not doing harnesses anymore, they send it out to the former employee who used to do them there at Enjuku... he is now doing just SR harnesses... he is a student and has no time to work at the shop anymore, so he just does their harnesses...

like I said, he's finishing up his website, and I will link it later tonight when he has it up and running!:)
