Need advice on replacement struts for my 1997 q45

So I really do not want to spend a lot of money on this car. But I would like to do the front struts (left front rattles when pot hole or bumps) It is not the touring q45. There is also a small leak on the front rack and pinion (that's what mechanic said)

Any advice on cheap replacements? Thanks

That first sentence sounds like you got the car off of Craigslist really cheap (and that's fine). But this is a ~$50 car when new so it should always be treated as such.

Do you know exactly where the leak is Because it maybe as simple as a loose clamp. Just make sure the power steering fluid is always full.
