anybody out there have any experience with removing the key hole and door handles? I am having my car painting in the next two months and I sure would like to remove the door handles and keyhole and have the door 'pop' open by remote.

Any ideas, advice, pros, cons, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

It might be useful to mention what kind of car you are doing this on. Not that I know the answer in any case, but it might trigger others.

This is pretty common in the world of Mini Truckin and generally in the auto body world. It is known as shaving your door handles. The shop you are having paint your car will be able to remove your door handles and locks, put bondo in their place and install a remote door popper. These can be a very useful and cool piece of technology. The pros include not having to use a key, more smooth lines of the car, and the inherent cool factor of popping open your doors with a remote. Some cons include losing the remote, having a "backup" switch provided to open your door that others can use if they know the location, and the system failing. Ultimately, the decision is yours.
