Hi Guys,

I am looking at the following car:

1998 240 Sx SE35000 km (~21000 miles)

-Stage 4 turbo set-up, -APEXi N1Damper suspension system, -front and back cusco Strut tower and sway bars, -Suspension Techniques Front & Rear Anti-sway Bars-Skyline GTR front braking system, Stillen cross drilled rotors and brake pads on the back-camber kit-JWT fuel rail-520cc MSD injectors-JWT ECU-300ZX TT fuel pump (built into tank), -Ford Cobra Mass air flow meter, -custom 'Ram air' intake system, -OS Giken transmission gears, -C's short shifter, -Greddy power extreme exhaust system, -ATC 6puck racing clutch, -HKS turbo timer, -Unorthodox racing pulleys

I am very inclined to this car because it is very unassuming on the outside. It has been winter parked afaik, I will be looking into all the paperwork & bills for the work done on the car, basically, I am looking to understand:

- as this car has been modded pretty heavily, where might potential problems be- where in western canada i may have something like it inspected- how suitable might it be for a daily driver (If I'm buying it, I sure as hell won't be watching it sit all pretty), and which parts may be prone to early wear and tear, etc..

I would really appreciate the advice and opinion of anyone who has a few minutes, I'll check the post here, if it is quicker via msn, my msn is allowmx @ hotmail....

These forums have changed so much the last few years -- I had a 90 S-13 that I painstakingly restored only to have it hit .. so I left for the world of Honda till I found my Unicorn '98 Turbo.

Thanks in advance guys, I can't wait to be back in a Nissan

-slush

yup. seems like a pretty decent find, not too much of a steal, and not too over priced.

Buying something already heavily modded has pros and cons. Big pro is not having to spend all the money to acquire the mods you want. Downside is that if it's a halfassed install, you may have a perpetual headache. If it's been done right however you can save some serious dinero.

As far as the car itself, I would look for signs of abuse, oil leaks, overheating, same stuff as always really. Make sure it pulls hard and doesn't miss at higher rpm. It should be obvious if it has been built right. Just be sure to be thorough in your inspection.

Good luck!

repo man;

I agree.. I won't go near the car if I can't a) have it checked by an independant garage who understand all of the upgrades.. The car does look babied.. I guess I'm looking for a way to have the mod install quality confirmed, it seems to only have the higher end stuff in it, leading me to believe it had the work probably done by someone more than qualified..

s14a; I want to have a 240 that I can enjoy driving, I can collect them later in life... even to the point of having to budget in taking out some of the mods.. This is probably the first modded care that has been done the way I'd want it, with nothing really overboard..

Is there anyone else in Alberta on these forums?

Really appreciate the thoughts,slush

16 grand is really good for that if its legit. you'd easily spend that much doing those mods yourself. and it has really low miles

yeah, its not ultra cheap either, which would send me running.. just need some help in making sure it is as legit as can be, i'll drive it till 100,000 kms then sell it, i'll have had my fill by then, keep it maintained, and it'll still be really low kms..

yea, i wonder how much work it would be to take off the turbo, i was thinking the same thing myself. my manhood is no longer tied to the horsepower of my car, although, if i could keep it with the turbo on so i could take it to the strip once in a while, it would be ideal..
