I'm about to replace my brakes on my 2009 Altima S and after reading through many of the posts on here about brakes, I've decided to switch out my rotors also. Here are the qualities I'm looking for -

1. Quiet - don't want any of the grinding noises that tend to plague a lot of us.
2. Low maintenance - I plan on holding onto this car for another 3-5 years at least. Would rather not have to replace the rotors again. Also don't want to bother with machining them from time to time either. I just want to put them on and pretty much forget about them.

I've gotten confused as to what should I look for. Should I get slotted or not? Should I just get any old rotors as some of you say that they don't really matter?

Help a fellow out.

Name doesn't matter. The same people that make Brembo blanks make off brand blanks as well. Slotted just chews your pads up. Go boring, lol. The rotors generally won't cause squeal either. That comes with HP pads. They tend to squeal when cold.

RAYBESTOS Professional Grade Ceramic or AKEBONO Premium Ceramic Pad. Both are excellent and are quiet. Raybestos or Brembo rotors are high quality. As a general rule, rotors should always be re-cut when replacing brake pads. For general road use, stay away from slotted rotors.

EBC's are pretty good as well and easy on the pocket.
