im about to purchase a 2002 maxima SE 6 speed.....i tried registering with the .org but for some reason they never send me the activation email.....if someone knows anyone on there could u please tell them for me thanks..... Anyways....the maxima is charcoal with a few scratches and dings...it has 2001 front headlights due to the HID's getting stolen.....the car has a salvage title because someone stole the rims and seats and stereo....the owner bought the car back and replaced all the stolen parts....this is the part im skeptical about....he is asking 10k for the car...it has 44k miles...it has a new headunit...it appears to be in good condition....the clutch grabs good but it seems to grab really high..im not sure if thats normal with maximas? the interior is cloth but in great condition.....the rims are stock but painted charcoal to match the car.....What else should i look at it before buying this car? The car was never in an accident but has the salvage title which is why im thinking the price is kinda high at 10k? Is that a good price? I was hoping to get it for 8k? Before i buy this car, what other parts or problems should i be aware of? How much do you think this car is worth? I've been looking for a salvage title appraiser, something like kbb.com but dont know of any....

Thanks in advance!

usually rebuilt salvage titles are chepaer for that fact insurances tend to not fully cover those vehicles better check witht he insurance first and get a carfax never trust what the owner tells you

he is actually a really good friend of mine but im still going to get the carfax done....What should i ask my insurance company? I wanted to ask them what is the value they think the car is worth in the event it would get stolen.....but i think that would sound to weird to ask them....they are gonna think i want the car to get stolen...

That's just got to be the rudest thing I've read this year, so far.

Enjoy the flamage! With the lack of tact that you have already displayed, you'll fit right in.

wat? well ive had this thread up here for 2 days now and barely any responses....i see people posting a thread on those "lower-tier maxima sites" and they get tons of good responses right away...im not putting down this site..it has lots of useful information but i just thought the other sites being totally devoted to maxima's would help me get a better quicker response....but i registered about 3 times with 3 different emails thinking it was my email address and still no activation emails were sent. Thanks

I own a 96 my brother has a 03 and my mother has a 00. I would honestly say we have not had any MAJOR problems out of these generations. My 96 at ten years old has only recieved new tie rods and cv joints 400.00, new EGR 150.00(I think), and a new starter I would hardly call these major issues. My mothers 2000 needed a new coil pack and my brothers car has never had an issue. I drive my 96 super careful, I do not hot rod or make huge rngine modification like its a freaking top fuelk funy car. That being said I believe that is the main reason for having the car ten years with only oil changes and normal tune up issues. Mine has a suspension from stillen and 18" wheels which is probably the culprit for the front end issues. If you baby the car keep the engine maintained as scheduled it will last you FOREVER. In my opinion you can not buy a bad year maxima but the 10K is a little to much I would offer 7.5 to 8 with the issues you mentioned. Hope this helps.

Josh
