i want to change interior bulbs and window switch led's to red from stock green but is there a way to make the auto climate control and clock display red?

edit: i got my gauges red, led's are on the way for door switches, red courtesy door lights and today...on to redding out the clock and ac controls - hopefuly i get somewhere because the only electronics repair place is booked for a few months ahead and wouldn't be able to get to it. if i get lucky i'll post pics.

As in the color on the display, No it is a digital display and it wont be any other colors besides green.

It does look phat I drove an audi with the red displays (factory) and it looked sick kind of like a stealth b0mber. Maby you can do some kind of retrofit with audi parts doubt it but anythings possible.

i don't know man...that would be a LOT of work. i think i might try and take my ac controls apart and see what makes it glow, maybe it's replaceable...or maybe i'll f*** it up and will have to find another one to replace

I have the a/c control but the brackets are broke on it. it would be perfect to run a trial and error.

blaaahhh!!! i'm pissed off as hell. got home from work a little after eleven tonight and decided to replace the bulbs on the gauges to red. i had 3 reds and thought it should be enough, if need be i'll pull the one i got in my shifter. there's 5 bulbs on the cluster! and no 24h parts store in town. so i'll have to finish tomorrow morning.

as for the ac controls i have an idea. my bonneville has red displays all around so i'm going to go to a dealership and ask the parts guy if the red glow works on the basis of a digital watch basis - if it is i can probably get the light piece from radioshack. if it's led's it would be even easier. if i decide to take it apart i'll let you know if it's easy to do...because i know it's possible

here's an update...the ac controls are gonna be an expensive bi.tch to do. a buddy parts guy told me that radioshack has their own repair shop in denver and i should ask them if they can change the color. shouldn't be too difficult since they're lcd. i have wednesday off so i'll run over there to get my red led's for window switches and ask about the ac controls.

btw i took apart one window switch to pull out the led to have one when i buy new ones...and it's gonna be a pain to replace them. i was hoping for a "snap in" kind of deal but it actualy involves soldering. i have the equipment but first...gotta remove the old solder

that's a lot of lights, looks sweet though. i'm just gonna stick with the door switches for now. i thought about putting in some red foot well lights in but that's gonna have to wait till i'm done with my switches - work too much so don't have enough time to spend with the car o yeah, and my wife and daughter

hey G4. so did you do your door switches? i went to radioshack but they couldn't "guess" which led's i need even though i brought one in and i couldn't find anything on them in the fsm. btw...looked like your clock was blue from the other forum. is it or just looks like that in the pic?

besides the gauges my clock and ac controls (auto ) are red now. just waiting for led's to finish my window switches and bulbs for buttons on the ac control. i'll take some pics sometime tonite.

one thing is i had to cut the dimmer cable on the clock and will do the same on the ac because with the headlights on the displays dim and are barely visible during the day, and they'll look nice at night.

anyone know where i can get small rubber sleeves that go over the bulb to change it's color?

yes, i recently finished my doors. check the link again, theres an update w/ new pics on the bottom of page 1.

which led are you talking about? the door courtesy light is #194 but you can use 3mm or 5mm leds. i wouldn't buy leds from radio shack though.i bought 50 white 3mm leds w/ 50 accompanying resistors for $6 shipped on ebay. and my clock is the normal color

i got the 5mm led's off ebay - hope they fit but if not it's only $5 wasted. i got 194's in the doors and gauges. wanted to do my ac buttons with oem bulbs - mine were all dead - but they're over $6 a piece!!! so i'll wire led's in. for the clock and ac displays i went with 2 layers each of red celophane from a arts&cratfs store - $4 a roll is a lot cheaper than have an electronics shop switch out lcd filters. i should get back from work before 5am so i'll post pics.

aside, don't know what happened but my driver door light stopped working, so sometime i'll have to pull the panel off to see if i have a loose connection somewhere. s***'s starting to look sweet. next project will be fixing the tears in front seats - leather. i'm thinking 2 tone - add burgundy to match the lighting and body color

$6 a piece for the climate bulbs is nuts. are you referring to the mini incandescent bulbs or the square green looking LEDs? for the leds, def swap those out w/ better ones. i used 3mm blues.

yeap, the small bulbs but i'll put led's in instead. here's the pics, quite crappy but it's dark outside. the clock and ac came out reddish-pink so maybe one more layer of celophane...will have to think about that though.

2 layers of red celophane - scotch taped over the displays . it came out nice and red in the pic but i think i'll hit it with the third layer - up close has too much of a pink to it.

oh yeah, i drive at night 99% of the time and usually dim my cluster and the rest but with it being red it's nowhere near as bright thus cutting the dimmer wires on the clock and ac.
