need advice on engine problems!!!!

aight so i just bought a 91 240sx. i planned on buying a new motor for the car, but i wanna know how much work it would take to use the one i have. its a ka18 motor, and it doesnt run. i was told it was the oil pump.i was also told that they turned the motor and everything looked okay. so i wanted to see. we charged the battery, and figured that with the valve cover off, if the oil pump was still good, it would squirt a little oil out when we tried ta turn it. we tried but nothing. although it kinda sounded like the starter wasnt spinning. we even tried taking the spark plugs out to lose compression, but still same problem. now if the oil pump really did go, i dont know what it did to the motor. so if anyone can help me out with some advice or suggests, id really appreciate it. maybe i should stick with buying a new motor?

wth? a ka18? you mean a ka24de?

you could always look for a used motor that was working before...

oh no sorry, i was typing really fast and didnt pay attention, i have a Ca18 motor in my car, wich is one of the reasons i thought i should just buy a new motor.

So it's turning over but not starting eh? How about a little more detail on the motor not starting.
