So, for you folks that know my story with the headaches I have had to put up with my A/C, I had sent a letter to Nissan. And the Service manager is ready to offer me some type of "reimbursement"; Nissan Canada is not doing anything at this point, the dealer is doing this independently.

Anyways, I've been talking to the Service Manager about possible offerings, and some things include Extended Warranty or Service.

I asked him about the NISMO Cat-Back exhaust and he told me today that it would end up costing him around $1100.00 when he buys it direct from Nissan and it would be covered under warranty, however he is not prepared to pay for the full amount. He said it's possible only if I can split the cost 50/50. So, $500 will get me the NISMO cat-back installed and covered under warranty.

He said fog lights won't be a problem if I want those. And I asked about the 3.5 SE mirrors w/ indicators, apparently he had to replace one of those for some lady and it cost around $350 painted and installed PER MIRROR. He said he would get back to me on that. Other than that, there is no reimbursement in terms of cashback possible.

So guys/girls, what should I do??? BTW that extended warranty only covers the Powertrain; I have enough faith in their Powertrain though, so I don't think the Extended Warranty is going benefit me much if I'm only keeping the car for about 5-6 years.

I would either go with the exhaust or the mirrors, if they pay for the mirrors in full...

Exhaust for $500 installed isn't bad.

But i don't believe your service manager when he says it will cost HIM $1100 to buy it and install it. I would think he can get it for cheaper.

http://consumerist.com/363298/...ipoffWarranty is bs... take the exhaust and mirrors... for 500... or the exhaust and he foots the bill... during discussion ask who owns the dealership and their contact info and mailing address to let him know you mean biz...

don't go with extended warranty. it only covers mechanical/powertrain. i made a big mistake of spending $2000 for that warranty and now i'm having headaches trying to cancel it. Nissan Usa support center is a joke.

Thanks for the advice guys, I just shot off an email to the Service Manager:

Hello Richard, I've been thinking about the options available to me. I pay $500 for the NISMO cat-back (installed) and you are willing to throw in the Fog Lights as well. I'd be completely happy and satisfied with your Service and Nissan Canada if you can make this deal possible. Sincerely, Jai

=$1439.00

I can split that with you, let me know

I asked him to throw in the fogs for free with the cat-back for $500.00

I saw, get the exhaust for $500, forget the fogs, you can most likely do them yourself.

I can part you my fog lights off my 3.5. Im thinking of getting the stillen fascia, and that would help with my purchase of it.

Let me see if its possible that i part it off in the first place.

Are you guys sure the extended warranty is only for mechanical, because I am sure, you can extend the full bumper to bumper, warranty, my buddy bought his 350z slightly used just before the bumper to bumper warranty ended, got it extended, and I can attest that since then he has had the window motors replaced, a few other things fixed and replace at no cost.

The extended warranty is not just mechanical, look at Nissans ASP

I am interested in the fogs Chow, however, I'm not ready to buy anything as of yet. I wanted to make the deal with him and have it in writing until I'd be ready to pay him, which I thought would've been only $500. However, in your case, you'd also have to get your stalk changed unless you just kept it. But I'd still have to buy the stalk though. I'm gonna try and cut a deal with him first. And also ask him about extending my bumper to bumper warranty like spockrock mentioned. (thnx spockrock)

Thanks dude.

Here's a reply I sent off to the Service Manager:

********Hello Richard, Thanks for getting back to me. What I meant was, if you could offer me the fog lights AND the exhaust together for $500 installed. Or if it's less trouble for you; you can substitute the fog lights for the folding side mirrors w/indicators from the 3.5 instead. You have been very helpful and I'm sure you can give me a better offer than this Richard. I mean where is the satisfaction for my troubles If I have to pay another almost $800? Isn't the whole point of this "reimbursement" mean that you should offer me something I'm going to be happy and satisfied with? My point is, if you are able to agree with me on what I've proposed, then we can consider this issue resolved. I mean we don't want to deal with this issue any longer than you do. Thanks for understanding.

ps - Are you able to extend the Bumper to Bumper warranty, if I chose to go that route?********

Let's see what he says now....
