So my motor is blown and has been that way for a while now and I'm sick of it!

How can I trust the next long block I buy? I know to have a compression test done and a leak down as well. However, they can't perform that on just a long block can they? I found a pretty good deal on one from an importer and have had 0 problems with them in the past on other PARTS. Motors are a different story especially if it's a redtop.

What do I do to ensure my motor won't have to be rebuilt when I'm buying?

Well I dunno about pre-buying checks, but when you get the motor it doesn't hurt to pull apart the bottom end and check the bearings.

I'd rather not have to do that. If I was going to do that, then I might as well do a full rebuild. When time and money is a problem, what do you do? Thanks for your help. Anybody else?
