Hi, I'm in the middle of sourcing brakes for a S14 w/out abs. For the past few weeks, I came accross with different setups that other people have done, i.e. Q45, Z32, STI/EVO/Z33 Brembos, GTRs and Vspec Brembos. In which, STI brembos routine would be the best bang for the buck ($1200 for calipers and evo rotors). However, I do want to live up with the Nissan tag, and most of all, I'm able to source some GTR brake (calipers and rotor, front and rear) at $500 range.

There might be a lot of 240 owners running sti brembos or what not. I'm not looking for serious/expensive brake upgrades since i have not yet done any power modificaton. I need your advice on GTR brake performances. I know they are differed by GTR, GTS, GST-T, Type S or Type M, etc., which differed in mostly 280mm x 26mm vs 296mm x 32mm. Do they make a differences? I really want to know.

On top of that, is it wise to consider a long run upgrades with STI/EVO brembo upgrades? I know a lot of high compeitive STI/EVO still use stock brembo brake setups. Hope to get some lights here. Thanks.

Don

It may not give you the bragging rights, but the Q45 conversion is the best combination of inexpensive, parts availability and performance.

Great stopping power but the pads are loud as hell.

Q45 pads are loud?

The factory went to great lengths to make sure everything on the Q45 was quiet.
