I just got a black 2010 altima coupe 2.5. I’d like to start hooking it up a bit but I know very little about cars. I checked out these forums for a while and have a couple of questions.

1) When someone recommends an “Injen Intake” to improve performance, do they mean a “cold air intake” or a “short ram intake”?
Related: http://www.autoanything.com/air-intakes ... 220A1.aspx

2) When choosing rims, there are suggestions not to go with chrome or go above 19”. I’m thinking about going with a flat black finish but I’m not sure if black on black is too much black. Here’s an example of a rim I’m considering:http://www.wheelfire.com/scontent/Wheel ... n=Standard
3) Many recommend the stillen lip kit, but they don't make it for a 2010 model yet. I suppose I'll just wait. Does it look good just to get the front lip rather than an entire body kit? I'm not looking to spend too much right now.

Here’s a full listing of reasonably priced rims I'm considering

Well, #2 isn’t exactly a question, but I’m interested in getting some feedback. It isn’t easy for me to picture what the car will look like with certain rims, especially since I don’t know what the various finishes actually look like (the matt black for example looks grey on my computer screen).

Thanks.

1) i'm pretty sure injen only makes a short ram intake for us (SP series). According to their website though, they don't have it listed for the 2010 coupe, but I don't see why it wouldn't fit

2) when choosing rims, it's ultimately up to you. the only thing that matters is that YOU like it. but if you want to see what it looks like, I have 19" flat black rims on my car, but it has a chrome lip. I looked around and didn't really like all black rims, so thats why i got what i got. check out the-rims-thread-post-a-sideshot-take-a- ... 95986.html. here's my coupe:

3) IMO the car looks great with just the lip. but if you want to save money in the long run, and you know FOR SURE that you will get the side skirts and rear corners, get the the full body kit since it's cheaper than getting the individual components separate. right now i'm saving money to get the full lip kit... hopefully get it painted and installed when i drive over to san diego next month

Thanks. That thread was very helpful.

You think these will look good?

http://www.wheelfire.com/scontent/Wheel ... b&SKU=4197

They are described as “Hyper black”, but the photo looks like they are only black on the inside, with a silver outside. That should be a good amount of black to silver.

Do you know why some people say not to go above 19” for rims? Also, I noticed that a lot of people put a different size tire on the back. Is that something that is recommended?

those wheels look awesome! but like i said, get whatever you think looks good!

sometimes if you get wheels above 19", AND low offset, AND get tires with a lot of sidewall, AND lower your car, you'll end up with some rubbing issues. but IMO you can go up to 20" without any worries, as long as you know what tires to get.

and getting different tires isn't necessary. some people do it because wider tires = wider tread face & stiffer sidewalls = better handling & cornering. other people do it because it just looks good!

Hyperblack isn't like a flat black color..it's more like a dark chrome which i think looks pretty nice. I have hyperblack rims on my altima and it looks great after a drop.

Last question.

If I go with these rims:

http://www.wheelfire.com/scontent/Wheel ... b&SKU=4197

and these tires:

235/35/19 SR:W TW:340

I'll still probably want to lower my car a bit...right?

Based on what I've been reading, I would lower the car by getting new springs. Many recommend Eibach. Would these be good:

http://www.amazon.com/Eibach-3852-120-P ... B000BWDY32

I don't want to go too low, just a little so it looks good.

Do I need to add spacers when putting on these new rims? If so, how do I find out what size I need? I see one post that discusses measuring once you get the rims, but I'm wondering if I can just order the spacers at the same time.

I apologize if any of my questions are stupid or could be learned by digging deeper.

I recommend u get Eibach's first. Rims/tires will be your most expensive mod, excluding mounting/balancing/alignment. Lowering the car will immediately make it look and handle better.
