:yesnod ^ I would advise bringing along a mechanic or someone very familiar with cars as lemons tend to appear at public auctions more than other sale outlets. Flood damaged cars are fairly common. That's not to say you can't find a good deal. But extra caution is strongly suggested.

I would hope that advice given about buying cars at auction given by residents of Statele Unite ale Americii would be helpful in your home country of Romania.

Auctions are always a risk but once in a while you'll find seriously good deals. I picked up a torsen NB Miata in mint condition but also got burned on a couple turds.

If we're talking about a dealer auction, it's where large dealers dump their lower end trades and where small dealers dump unsellable duds, but if you know your makes and models and their known flaws in detail and have a chance to drive the cars hard and inspect them a week in advance (reputable auctions allow this), then there's a reasonable chance of finding something nice. Be picky, don't be impulsive.

So you're planning to purchase cars on line in other countries (without someone physically inspecting them prior to bidding) from a public auction, not a dealer auction?? If so, that's rather risky.

How do you know if you got a good deal? If you're talking public auctions (not dealer only auctions), and you're crazy enough to buy them on line without having someone unbiased to physically inspect prior to bidding? You won't know until after you take delivery. by then it's too late if it's dud. You own it. Just because you know someone that got a good deal is not a guarantee it'll happen to you. At the end of the day, it's your money you're risking, not mine. So please do not let me stop you from doing it if your mind is made up. .
