Information: s15 turbo,fmc,exhaust,intake,on stock tune,stock injectors,stock boost. Replaced timing chain tensioner and gasket.
story: The day before the car over heated, the following day after lots of driving in heat it would not restart, upon excessive cranking there was a abrupt stop and the engine locked up. While doing process of elimination I discovered a bad #4 injector. I replaced the injector and after cranking it abruptly stopped again. Later it started but ran terrible and backfired after any accelerating. After pulling the valve cover i found that the timing was off. I after removing the timing tensioner and guide i was able to move the cams to the correct position without removing the cams or chain. With information from another thread;

With intake "key" at 10 and the exhaust "key" at 12, you should have 11 links between the indentions on your cam gears.... The colored links are NOT needed... Crank pulley should have 2nd indention from left lined up with the timing pin. This will have #1 at perfect TDC. After you set this, make sure you get your cam angle sensor installed correctly.
Questions: Should I be able to move the chain around without removing anything but the top guide and tensioner? How can I check to make sure my cams are where they are supposed to be after what ive done. Is there a way to check for interference without further engine tear down? What made all this happen!?!
I want to thank anyone for reading this. I haven't been on here in a long time and am very happy to be able to use it for a reference and Ive searched and found alot of helpful information. Some of which: http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/wolfpd ... ORSR20.PDF (similar to how i changed my timing) http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php? ... Cam-Timing Which would probably contain the information i need if i could view the picture at the bottom of the post or if i would have used the timing dots on my cam sprockets. Ive probably seen every helpful thing about this on Google. there were alot of other very helpful sites. I will try and take a picture of mine tomorrow if someone could point me in the right direction i would appreciate it very much. Im at a level above my knowledge.
