Need Advice about sensor on transmission.

I just completed the strangest repair I have done, My throw bearing housing broke allowing the withdraw lever to slip off the housing. NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. Anyway There is a sensor mounted to the top flange of the bell housing on the driver side and it is broke. What is it?
