also, this is probably going to be the dumbest question ever and i think the answer to it is yes but here it goes. Do you have to change the ecu when you change from auto to manual for an87 z31? I'm 90% sure you have to but whenever i read up on a swap i never hear anyone say anything about changing it. No jokes please

how hard the swap is is based on your abilities with a wrench. It's essentially dropping the old transmission, removing the flexplate, and throwing all the manual parts on. Don't forget to add the clutch pedal and swap in the manual brake pedal or cut the old one down.

No. You don't have to swap the ECU.

thanks alot AZ! . Does the clutch pedal and the brake pedal come as one piece or are they attatched seperatly. And will I need to do anything to the ecu to make sure everything works fine? Also, will i need a clutch master cylinder?dont know much about pre '90 cars but every car i've owned used a c.m.c..

PS: I don't have the car yet but it's my next door nieghbors and I'm 90% sure I'll get it....................... even though it's a 4 seater

Yes. Master, slave, and line. And the pedal assemblies are seperate.

Thanks again AZ. This takes the nail biting out of the swap.
