Well, I don't know what the little plug does but I'm not too worried about it right now, I plugged the ignition from the new column in today just to start it up since it was so cold and I haven't started it since Wednesday. There was a little trouble at first in that the ground was loose, but after tightening it, the car fired right up, and almost all the electrical problems I had before(save the headlight motor, wipers, speedo and dash lights) were fixed just from having a proper ignition. Now I've read up why I think the speedo/dash lights don't work, and since it has an aftermarket stereo I think, that the connection in the TCU is burnt out, so once it gets warm enough to solder a jumper wire across the burnt out section and see if that fixes it.
By the way, do you think I should go through with replacing the whole steering column? the end that connects to the steering rack on the new one is alot less rusted, but couldn't I just drill out the screws in the new ignition assembly, buy some new tamper proof bolts and put it on the old column?
