need a rebuild?

ok this may be a question with an obvious answer, but i'm not sure where to start. when i start my car it idles at around 2500 rpm and makes a terrible knocking sound. it just started one morning, the previous day when it was parked it ran fine. any thoughts as to what the problem could be? I haven't driven it since this started.

Does it drive? Does it run? Does it start?

Starts, drives and runs but i only moved it out of the drive way after this started so i'm not sure exactly how well it runs

Try taking her for a run around the block or just up the block. If it's a knocking sound, you're probably in for it ie rebuild.

How long have you owned the car and has it spent a good amount of time just sitting there or anything?

this may sound weird but does your car have oil in it? or leak a lot?
