I'm looking for something that will be good for a daily driver, but also can be used for the track. I checked the Forums and had little to no luck in finding out which way to go . If you could give me some info, i would be most greatful.Thank You

welcome to nico!so you have a base model with an open diff? woud upgrading to a stock VLDS satisfy you? or are you looksing for somehting switchable? and or tunable? I believe most aftermarkets diffs for the Z33 are intended for cars that were factory equipped with LSD, so you'd likely need cv shafts for a non base car before you coud swap in most popular options

Search for a quaife man that lsd is the bomb. I have one on my base model 04 z. It's a little pricy 1500 I think, maybe you can find one with a good deal? That lsd is the best for a DD and also decent for the track. It's a gear driven type lsd instead of a clutch type. It's great for the road because when you go into a turn at normal speed (city) you will not feel it grabbing and all that wierd feeling you would get with a normal lsd. It's also good for the track, but if you get one wheel off track like on loose gravel or lawn wtv, the lsd will unlock until you let go of the gas for it to lock again I think. I have had it unlock maybe twice on the road where I was on an on ramp and accelerating and going over loose debrit made it slip but you can baerly feel it. The other good thing is it's a complete drop in from stock rear end if it's a base model, that is no need for new shaft or anything. Ask anyone that has a quaife and they will say it's the best money they spent on their car so far.

Yeah it's a great product man. I had mine installed by my local nissan dealership because i taught that it might need to be shimed but it didn't have to so I got lucky hehe, but usually the quaife is a drop in and doesn't require shimming anyway. I didn't have to change the cv shafts also, again it was designed to work with the rest of the oem parts in the pumpkin. You will need 2 new end bearing for the lsd do, I forgot to mention, because if they try and take the old ones off which are pressed on it will most likely damage them, those bearings can be oem bought right online for 50 a piece and down at my dealership it was 125 a piece lol. I really do hope the quaife is available for your newer Z, because it's an outstanding product. In case you didn't find one already you should try forged performance, Sharif is a great guy to talk to, very nolegable of the products he carries and the whole 350z itself. Just a few last details on the lsd, it's german enginnered so you know you will get a good product right there and because its helical gear driven it's the same maintenance as an oem nissan one, just change the oil every 30k miles I think. It's virtually pain free compared to clutch type lsd's and very much more streetable. Clutch type lsd's are meant for the track more than the road. OK I'll shut up I can't tell you all about it, you have to do a little bit of work here

Good luck, peace

Lol I made a little search just quick and I didn't find anything for an HR but if I was you I would check with Sharif to see if the quaife itself will fit. My guess is yes. I don't think they would change anything in the rear ends from the older to newer model Z. Also if you don't speak with Sharif well be sure that if you find one it's not an atb model because it means it's for an auto trans and their is a difference. I almost got frigged over, because of a guy that told me it would work and he didn't know what he was saying so you get my drift lol... CALL SHARIF at forged performance lol.

Thats really all i had to say

Hey dude.Call me crazy but a DD / Weekend track car doesnt deserve Clutch-type diffs (OS Giken, Tomei 1.5 or 2.0 way). And quafie diffs are the best money can buy, AKA mega overkill. Unless the price doesn't bother you then Quafie is the best.

I would just go with a nice HLSD and drop the final drive of your Z for more acceleration. It makes the Z much quicker. So what ever diff you get, make sure you ATLEAST drop the final drive.

SIDE NOTE:If you plan on doing any sort of "drifing" then Quafies and HLSDs diffs suck at it. But 2-way diffs like Giken, Tomei, Kazz and Carbonetic would be your best bet. Carbonetic would be the best of those IMO

You can still drift pretty well with the quaife. Beats an open diff
