need a new head unit

alright the head unit that came w/ the car 3 years ago just quit on me...it is a pioneer tuner meh-405 (couldn't even find it on pioneer's site)... it wouldn't play CDs when it is hot outside, and now it won't eject my CD out, just makes a rapid clicking sound...

I am looking for a new head unit, I just need the abiliuty to play CDs and have am/fm... that's it, so I want the CHEAPEST one available w/ adequate quality... also my friend says his S14 SE came w/ external amp stock, and I have a base model, so how can I tell if I have an external amp?I am assuming I don't have one, and I will have to buy a HU w/ an internal amp. Thanks! I am a newbie, please flame me.

Bse models do not have an external amp and be glad u dont have one because the are a pain to bypass pioneer h u are great but i like clarion my self
