I'm looking at the Pioneer DEH-P2600 right now for 4 reasons:

1. It's cheap ($120 or so on eBay, retails for under $200)2. The DEH series gets really good ratings wherever I've seen them reviewed3. It has an optional AUX input (a must for my iPod)4. It has a strong amp (50x4)

So my question is this: does anybody think this would be a BAD idea? I'm upgrading from an Aiwa CDC-X217 by the way, which is a great machine but the CD player is dead (good job Aiwa). Also, the AUX input is on the face and is only a miniplug, which is somewhat flimsy and requires an unsightly wire, whereas with a rear input I could run a Y-cable underneath the center console and make it all spiffy.

If anyone has a better option to offer, please, I am open to suggestions! (Pioneer horror/joy stories are welcome as well). It's going to be driving Kappas all around: 6.5" components with tweeters in the front (when I get 'em) and 4"x6" plate speakers in the back.

Thanks! =)

I have a Pioneer DEH-P5500 CD/MP3 player and it works really well. I have it running to 4 Alpine Type S (200W max) speakers and it handles it real nice. I don't know much about the 2600, but I know Pioneer makes good stuff!

The 2600 is a great radio for someone either just starting their upgrade, or someone looking for something more budget level. The AUX input can only be used if you buy the RB-10 AUX input adapter. It plugs into the changer port in the back. There are two versions of this plug. One where it eliminates the ability to add a changer later, or one where you can still add it. I use a DEH-P8000r with the first adapter I mentioned for my XM audio. It's a fine radio, only you'll be kind of limited if you ever plan to add more than one amp.
