For those who are unaware, I am a scent detection canine trainer/Handler and my business is going to be training/selling dogs, doing inspections with dogs and recertifying previously purchased dogs.

Okay things are getting down to the wire!! i have all my stuff setup for the kennel, and the dogs have begun their training. Now i am going to be working on a website and advertising but i need a name for this company!!! The previous company i worked for was called "The florida canine academy" brilliant, right? yea.. well i need something simple and awesome like that as well... HELP!! I have run into so many dead ends here and me and my business partner can't agree on ANYTHING!

If you can't post a legitimate business name then don't bother posting... I've turned to you guys cuz im simply out of ideas and could use some more heads in on this! Trolls can GTFO!

I'd like the name to maybe have the words "Florida" "Canine" & "Academy" in it somewhere or even just a simple short word like "Dogpro" was one i've come up with.

Here is a few i've come up with but havnt been able to get them to sit right.

DogPro - Scent Detection Canine Academy -or- S.D.C.A.
Nature Coast Canine Academy (the coast of florida that i live on is called "the nature coast")
Canine Academy Of Central Florida
S.D.C.A (See above. This is standalone)
J&S Canine Services (Means James and Sean thats me and my business partners first names for the slower folk)

Anyways that's what i've got! ANY help is appreciated so lets see what you guys got! I'm open minded but i have been doing this a long time and kind've know what's going to sound successful in my line of work, so please, if i reject something you've come up with, don't take offense, as i mean none. Keep trying!

I'll give you a little of my history, When i was 12 my uncle invented the first Termite sniffing dog, it BLEW UP! in the pest control world, followed by toxic mold sniffing dogs and now the big craze is Bedbug dogs. THAT is what ill be focusing on but i dont want to limit myself to bedbugs specifically. I started out as a kennel tech jus walking dogs and cleaning kennels and went on to learn how to train them around the age of 14. I am 25 now and his business is failing due to some poor moves he made financially. He is still the original and the "Best" and my credentials are pretty much that alone.. i was trained by him and worked under him for all those years leading up to the age of 25.

To answer your question more specifically, I can start by saying that i will be training bedbug detection dogs as a primary and looking to train Currency, Explosive, Mold, Termite, etc... I can train a dog to find literally anything. Cadaver dogs is another field i'd like to look into but i don't know how to approach that. so with a bit of research, i could maybe make that happen.

My job has taken me to japan, hawaii, canada, vegas, atlantic city, NYC, etc and i dont plan to stop here.. i want to take what i have learned and go into competition with my uncle. (there is a lot more to it than that but it's personal so please refrain from asking about it)

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask i will be checking this frequently!

ALSO! I liked dogpro, too. that was my idea and it has a great ring to it. Your theory matched mine flawlessly on that and your slogan sounds good. My associate "likes" it but thinks we should keep looking, so i am open ears here, guys! help!!

Nature Coast Canine Academy (NCCA) has a nice ring, though the athletic org might take issue with the abbreviation
Central Florida Canine Academy (CFCA) sounds good too

some quick brainstorming

Paws-itive Dog Training Academy
Dogsmart
Dogwise
i-pawed
Sherlock Bones (I kinda liked this one)
Good Dog Training

Names that play on words or sound "Cheesy" (no offense) we have ruled out, as this is a professional industry and i don't think it would be very successful. I need to be taken seriously.

Dogsmart i like but reminds me too much of "Petsmart"

Dogwise is okay, wrote that down, thanks!

keep'em coming guys!

^^yea I agree its got to be perfesional this is no joke its not like he is an average trainer for like obedience it cant sound like a name for a pet store...
But i do like sherlock bones but it would be hard to make a slogan for it also kinda hard to pitch the idea that you would want a company named that training your dog which i imagine costs the customer thousands of dollars to do..

Im still stuck on dogpro (with the slogan) But I imagine we could help you find a name that your like damn thats the name I want..
One persons suggestion leads to another guys suggestion and so on..

Also since your selling a traveling service you do not need to use anything that has to do with florida or where you live IMHO just cause it wouldnt make since to ppl also they may say oh well he only stays local i cant use him...

im starting to brain storm ill post when i think of some good stuff

Also i want to correct that if it came off that i am a travelling trainer, that is not correct. I am based out of crystal river, florida. i have my kennel here and such. When i travel it's usually for conventions/homeshows/etc. or to teach a class or maybe recertify a dog. other than that ill be the master trainer here in florida till some good $$$ starts rolling in then was thinking of hiring a trainer or two. probably women since women stay on task and put forth more effort into their objectives. plus they love dogs and would love what they're doing, probably. :D + the many other reasons working with women would be amazing!

One Word Scent Detection

Slogan: "One word comes to mind for the number 1 trainer in scent detection"

^if some one googles "scent detection dogs" then you would come up so your name does not have to have dog or canine in it...

whatcha think??? Also think about how many different slogans you can come up for "One Word Scent Detection"

Slogan: "One word one name we get the job done and keep it right guaranteed"
Slogan: "Here at One Word SD we will have your dog responding in just 1 word or your money back"
Slogan: "With One Word SD thats all it takes, Just 1 word"

One Word SD or One Word Scent Detection

^^^ I like it alot..

i love the thought you're putting into this, you're on the right track, but from my experience idk how well this would work. I wrote it down to show my Business partner anyways. Main reasons i wanted to retain the words "Florida, Canine & Academy" is because a google search would bring me into the runnings with the florida canine academy (where i learned all of my skills) and people might be shopping around and stumble on to my site and be happier with what they find there.

Can you train dogs to attack? My dog is a big p**** and needs to learn how to defend herself.

Also, Florida Ultra Canine Klinic - F.U.C.K.

Also, sorry for being a douche. I'm bored as hell.

i advised to refrain from posting bunk names, but you've been a pretty cool member so far, towards me other than this so it can slide :P

To answer your question, honestly... probably not. I've never done that type of training so i dont know where to start, but i can say repetition is the mother of skill and if u learn the steps and repeat them several thousand times your dog will do what u ask... thats pretty much the whole concept... about your dog being a giant p****, tho... a skittish dog will always be a skittish dog, i have never had any luck bringing a dog like thats confidence up.

When my company gets dogs they are all rescues from humane societies and kill shelters but i am very picky with breeds and how they act.. usually the dogs who are most hyper always have their tails up and seem like they'd be a pain in the a** house pet, or untrainable, are the best dogs to train. they just need a job.

You have got yourself a good deal training dogs to sniff out Bedbugs. I've heard of this before and the market is definately out there. A local college had an outbreak and a homeless shelter. Both used training dogs find the source and ensure they were no longer there.

these names are great for a company that bases it self solely on inspections, but not so much an academy for the training of the dogs. Thanks for you input tho, it's very appreciated.

very much so! Thanks for the kind words. Yes i have heard of schools, college campuses, shelters, hotels, movie theatres, public transportation, etc all being inested by this and the dogs are running strong in the industry, known for cutting inspection times down DRASTICALLY!

If you guys know anyone in the pest control industry who is swamped with bedbug work, please give them my information or shoot me a PM as i can save them ALOT of money. :dblthumb:

I actually think using Sherlock wouldn't be a bad idea, or at least something similar. Maybe not sherlock bones, but the idea of using a cute and creative name will bring a lot of attention and also make people feel a little more comfortable taking and leaving their dog with you. I would at least. Iron Heart was a good name choice for that company, but it sounds a lot like Brave Heart to me. I imagined a dog fighting school when I read the name the first time.

The Golden Nose (or use Golden Nose Dogs)
Sherlock's Sniffers Academy
Inspector (dog's name) Training Academy (and have a award winning, trained dog be your mascot)
Pest Busters Dog Training

I also suggest keeping a more open mind to the amusing titles.

A fun, clever name can make a big difference in getting someone to initially contact you, which I assume is what you and your partner are after. Having a stuffy university sounding title might not give the impression you want to potential customers. Food for thought.

In the op's defense I agree with what he says cause this is a serious subject and he really needs help.. We are a family we all have a common interest. We love Nissan's.

Wether you like it or not that ^^ is true
(not trying to sound corny just stating the facts^)

But what you say about how he is saying that when he just joined and being super police ehh in a way your right but not totally. Most ppl should respect him for what he says because everyone knows that their are "those ppl" that just troll and can't take anything seriously and really just really just straight up immature ... Plus atleast he actually drives a nissan (kooookie :yesnod my favorite type of 240) I have noticed that some ppl in Nicoclub dont even drive nissan's (I assume they used to but still)..

Edit: Just saying i think most ppl will agree with the post that he made just simply trying to weed out all the nonsense.. I dont see anything wrong with it :bigthumb: im still trying to think of a name for your company btw..

Moving back to the subject now! :gapteeth:

Look, i'm not trying to be "Super police" or anything, guys.. as i stated (and it's my own fault) things are down to the wire.. i've waited til the last minute and again, my bad.... I know i am new to the forum but i try to be as active as anyone who isn't i do drive a nissan and alot of my drive to do this (As cheesy as it sounds) is purely for the enjoyment of wanting to modify my car and make it what i want... To me getting my nissan in an issue of import tuner would be a valid goal... i have a clean chassis and a great basis to start with. ANYWAYS getting back to the point... i have mentioned several times in my posts that i GREATLY appreciate you guys helping me and i can't stress that enough.. take it or leave it... Believe it or not this is a more professional industry than you might think.. i've been doing this for over ten years it's really all i know (Besides cars but that's a hobby) i've been to the pest control summits and home shows and trade shows and there isn't a SINGLE company there with a cheesy or quirky name. Take iron heart for example.. it sounds tough and professional, as you said, you thought of dog fighting? okay, that's a little severe but it still sounds tough, right? the name needs to sound stuck up and sophisticated, because these people are spending nearly 8 thousand dollars a dog!! people dropping 8k on a "tool" are not trying to be cheesy they want success. and to say your dog is a graduate from an academy is better than saying it came from some place called paws-itive dog school or whatever...

thanks again!
