You dont need the tool, theres a trick,
cover the thing in wd40, then move the rubber hanger back and forth (to make sure the wd soakes in between the rubber and the hanger) now the rubber should slide back and forth easily. use a pair of channel-locks and pop the thing off. sometimes you dont even need the pliers at all.
thats how i did it at nissan.
