need a little help

ok here's what i have. 92 hatch 5 spd. pulled the engine replaced it with a fresh 92 ka, ross 8.3:1, crower rods, 3 angle valve job heads, arp studs, cometic head gasket, new timing chain and tensionsers. removed the egr and egr pump. installed the iap stage 2 kit (nice), and tried to fire the engine up and all i get is a cough out of the engine every once in a while as i turn it over. i pulled the #1 wire and i have fire. installed the new fp and have plenty of fuel going to the injectors. what am i doing wrong, what have i done wrong or where did i go wrong? all vacs and hoses are hooked up, maf installed, and ecu installed. i can post pics of anything if needed. thanks in advance.

I am willing to bet you are one tooth off on your dizzy. Turn crank until the mark shows top dead center and make sure both cam lopes facing out. Move the dizzy one tooth advance and try it again. I had the same problem. It will not start if the dizzy is off one tooth.

you were exactly right!!! thanks a ton! moved it exactly one tooth dropped it right back in and advanced the timing a touch, hit the switch and purr. nice whistling sound that i have been waiting for.
