Alright so I was driving down the road went to 4th then the engine basically dropped to 1 cylinder. luckily I just left my house so I wasnt far away. The CA would only start back up on 1 or 2 cylinders. Upon inspection I noticed that the timing belt was loose between the cam gears ( it was out of time). Somehow the tensioner loosened up a bit and jumped timing not too much but enough. So I got it back in time "the right way" with the cam gears lining up with the outside markings on the backing plate. Checked compression, everything good. It started up right away but as it warms up idle gets alittle more intermintent ie: misfires and idle dropping down. When ever throttle is applied it will kinda make it to 2,500rpms then just start sputtering out like its loosing gas or spark. The ecu is also throwing out no codes. the CA used to run perfect before this happened. I know its hard to diagnose engine troubles jst by what somebody says, trust me I used to work at a dealership, but mainly if anybody has ever had this prob before or has come across anything like this, I'd appreciate your help. thanks

Are you sure timing is back at 15 degrees? Did you check that with a timing light after you got the belt realigned, really sounds like your running a few degrees retarded now.

yeah thats one thing I did for sure... I always do that if I remove the CAS even if for something simple.

Weird, the 2500 rpm thing sounds like a maf problem, you might want to check that out and make sure your connections are good. Check your grounds, make sure the battery is grounded to the chassis and the engine. There are alot of things that could be causing it but start with going over anything you unplugged or moved while you were fixing the belt. Try to disconnect the battery and let the ecu reset itself as well, its worth a try. Heres other things that I would check after that in order:

-vaccum/boost leaks-spark plugs-coils-IACV-AAC valve-air regulator-tps-injectors-fpr-fuel pump-fuel filter-engine temp sensor-o2 sensor-knock sensor

Are you sure you didnt bend a valve?

Sounds like a disaster man.

So you can't go over 2500rpm? Might check to see if your maf if functioning properly, although if you didn't touch it, I wouldn't think it would have gone bad.

I would have guessed that but he said his compression checked out fine. I think that would be impossible with a bent valve. Dodged a bullet on that one.

Start with simple stuff. Check your plugs for their condition, check for spark and fuel. 2500 does seem like the magic "MAF issue" RPM, but that should affect all cylinders equally.

Get a new timing belt and tensioner. Chances are that if the belt or tensioner were in bad enough shape to allow this to happen once, it'll do it again. Possibly right upon startup.
