Alright I finally got my 240 to where it will idle . I have KA24DE w/ dual exhaust cams I installed it correctly (triple checked online)

I have to keep the throttle up for a minute or two before it will idle tho. Once it warms up it idles fine (a lil rough b4 it does)

Throttle response isnt that great, also if I'm like 40% on the throttle it runs like garbage but if I give it more it will rev up and sound normal.

I set the timing to 20 degress BTDC (stock) It was backfiring b4 I did the timing now it will only give a pop if I rev it high and let off (all I have is exhaust manifold and downpipe...so not cat)

I had it warmed up and tried to move it, its in my back yard and is a lil sunken in the dirt, and when I let out the clutch it loses throttle and dies. I tried forward and backwards, also I tried reving it up and it still would lose throttle and die.

Also once I get it to idle (after that min or 2 of holding throttle) if I shut the car off and start it back up it will start and idle like normal.

I replaced the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV) and thats is actually what got my car to be able to idle. I've tried toying with the idle screw (tho I havnt played with it with the TPS unplugged) didn't make a change.

I've swapped the MAF, sparayed the throttle body clean, have new plugs, I'm doin new spark plug wires tomorrow, I know I dont have any vaccum leaks (I've taken the IM off every weekend for a month now )

Sorry for the long post but I'm so close to gettin my 240 on the road, this is my last problem b4 he's roadworthy.

So got any ideas?

Thanks For any help you can give

Tim

I would double check the ignition timing first, but I wonder if there is overlap with the cam swap.

I'm no expert, but that definitely sounds like a timing issue.

*Edit* Looks like you already figured that out (and beet me to saying it by about 3 seconds).

Alight so it is still definately backfiring not just a lil pop like I said before. Now it's taking hella long to be able to idle. I went and got my timing light but now I cant even get it to idle....these shenanigans need to stop!

Think I should just suck it up and put the intake cam back in just to try it out...I swear that I have it right tho

It wouldn't hurt to just pop the valve cover off and make sure the cams are aligned properly. I think the intake needs to be at 10 o'clock while the exhaust is at 12 iirc (maybe someone can verify this).

If it's not raining tomorrow I'll probably go check out the cam to quadruple check. Might swap in regular one since I'm in there I really want to get it on the road. I can wait til I smog and register it to swap back in the exhaust cam.
