Like the title says gentlemen, I currently have the front converted, and I'm in the process of painting the rear calipers. I bought hardware like the brake shoes and all the bolts and **** for the e-brake, but I believe that I need the backing plates in order for this to work. So if anyone can advise me here or post up a diagram from the FSM on the full e-brake assembly, I would greatly apperciate it.

You dont need the backing the plates. The Z e-brake should be able ot bolt to the S chassis's spindle.

Go download an FSM from here. http://www.carfiche.com

The brake shoes, once engaged, have to press against something. I just can't figure out what exactly they would press against on the spindle. That's what is confusing me. It's probably a simple thing too.

yeah, you do need the backing plate. it's the piece that holds the pieces for the assembly together. it gets sandwhiched inbetween the hub and the spindle - the spindle doesn't have anything to do with the ebrake conversion.

Yeah that's what I thought. I also was having a brain fart on how the e-brake shoes work, but it was right in front of my face in that it utilizes the inner part of the rotor. I also see how that backing plate works in the assembly as well. Thanks for the reply crzycav86.
