there were a few Z31's on ebay in FL not sure if they are up to what you need, why 85? thats the year of no slicktops, if you're racig I'd think you'd want the slicktop?

I just like the way the 85 looks, it can be from 80-90. It dose not matter if it a slicktop or not, I'll have to put in a rollbar anyways.

you do know that the 80-83 is a 280ZX and the 84-89 is the Z31 300ZX, and that the 84-85 are identical except taht the 84 was offered (albeit a rare option) in a slicktop, 86 got slightly redesigned fenders, quarters and nose, 87 saw a few more changed that stayed the same till end of production in 89, and 90 was the first year fot the Z32 300zx

all year Z31s were offered with a slicktop. but only 1984 had a slicktop turbo available.

84 and 85 are virtually indistinguishable, and the lightest of all the Z31s.

I thought 85 was they did away wiht the slicktop option? years ago either on zhome or z31 they had produstion numbers and there were no slicktops in 85? maybe they have since corrected, it's been a solid 8 years ago that I read it

note: the following applies for only US bound 300ZX models

That's the beauty of someone actually doing some research to confirm or disprove these old thinkings or "FACTS".

Also the beauty of the 300ZX registries.

Slicktops by year:1984 - 19,983 (562 turbos, 7,947 2+2s)1985 - 1,684 (1 turbo = special order or test car)1986 - 2,7921987 - 1,3881988 - 151989 - 41990 - 621991 - 1,0261992 - 4521993 - 4151994 - 2711995 - 991996 - 214

Note that all (okay, one exception) slicktops after 1984 (1985 model year and later) were 2 seater NAs. That may have been where the confusion lies.
