Ok so this is my 2nd post./..but I now own a 2003 M45. The car smokes, but not from the tailpipe, seems to be coming from underneathand only after hard drives. Also apprears to have low oil quantity after 3K miles.

Trying to find out "what the proper engine breakin is" I did not get the owners manual??? please post or email me if possible or fax...

My car had a new short block installed at 35K and it now has 40K...Its at the dealer for the 30K service and a few minor other things..trunk struts, lft fog light fogged up...jerky ICC and of course the oil burning.

First immpression is..WOW. beautyful ride and it hugs the road nice...everything great..22mpg's at 80mphs stready..except the oil burning from underneath the car...

May have found a source for 1.2 inch lowering springs...from Germany.NOT Eibach........

Help..

"Proper" engine break in should be over with at 5K miles. Basically dont beat the crap out of it and dont just drive down the street, make sure the engine oil gets to operating temp(well this should be ALL of the time) before you shut off your engine. Are the springs your talking about Vogtland brand?Cheers

Cool suspension idea!! I hope it works!!! Breaking it in requires you to find a young teeneage kid in a souped up 4 cylinder with a car full of friends trying to show and....oh wait that could be dangerous...nevermind

Opps sorry for the delay..yes newbie getting my feet wet...

Call Bob,Let him know your interested on a set of springs for your M45 and he will add to an open order...I expect he is going to get 3-4 sets unless others show interest. They are not on the website becuase somehow he found this source elsewhere..you can give him my name to remind him..Fernando.

Good news on my ride..it has an oil leak from either the "overflow/breather or a valve cover"...they cleaned up the area and put in a dye in the NEW oil and said to come back in one week to fix it when the other parts come in..trunk struts. fog lamp housing. I am really starting to like this ride. 20" TSW's on the horizon with the lowering kit. Will be hard because this car looks amazing with the stock 18" Chrome wheels and rides so nice...better than my stock 300C i had last year ...but it needs a little drop to close the wheel gap..hopefully not to much change in the ride with 20's too...

Which TSWs did you decide on? They make decent wheels, nothing that I fancy too much though. You should consider the FX35/45 20 inch wheels in chrome or painted. They are pretty much the same design as the stock 18s on your M but bigger. Im closing the deal with my 20s hopefully by next week. I have a couple shops competing somewhat to give me a bit cheaper price, every dollar counts sometimes. Did you order the springs yet? If you talk to him again if you could get a website with some info that would be great.Cheers
