A local guy took on a new project. Taking his base model Stealth and making it into a home brew R/T AWD/AWS. Thus far, all that is done is the AWD/AWS, but by the end of the year, should be TT. He did all of the work himself, and it took him all semester. Cool writeup and pics. I'm not a fan of these cars, but still kudos on the hard work.

Yes, I've done the research on doing that conversion and it is indeed a pita. Wanted to do it, but then figured it'd be cheaper for me to buy a VR-4.

i was going to do that cause i had a 3000gt base but then i found a vr-4 for 6000 with a slipped bearing. it's easier to just get a vr-4 and then put the 16 in. wheels and the sl badges on it.

the VR-4 is also heavier. the base model weighs a lot less than the TT version.

Why would you put SL badging on a VR-4...

oh, was that sarcasm I sense?

the only reason the base weighs less is because it dosnt have the awd, six speed transmission, and the aws. Quote »Why would you put SL badging on a VR-4...[/quote]i just did it to make it more of a sleeper, and so that people would mess with me more

Umm...people usually don't mess with me.

If you don't want people to know that you have a vr-4, debadge it.

you can get 91 vr4's for as little as 4000 with around 100k on them...no reason to go to that much work, imo.

I think Stealths/3000GTs are gorgeous. Just way too heavy. I'd want one as a second car, perhaps, if the interior wasn't so plasticky.-Ryan

That's a cool project but just not sure why you would wanna do that. Just buy you a 1st Gen. TT Stealth/3000GT w/ the AWS. I have owned a 93 TT Stealth. It's an awesome car but you better have some cash when they start having problems. I would like a 99 VR-4 but just not now.

Oh yes. That car has sucked down more money than my ex girlfriend. And it continues to do so.
