I was messing around with GT4 this weekend and stumbled across the "Subaru 360 Cup" Race, which is one of the factory Subaru events.
I realized that there is a fairly easy way to really pile on some A-Spec points with this event when I noticed that in stock form, the car runs out of gearing WAY before it runs out of oomph.
Apparently the game does NOT deduct from your A-Spec points when you swap transmissions as it does not add horsepower, and thus switching to a 5spd "full service" gearbox allows you to utterly dust the other stock 360's with an otherwise "stock" vehicle, getting you the full 55 A-Spec points for the 3-lap Tsukuba race.
I think that a similar trick might work on the Daihatsu Midget event but I've yet to play around with it. It probably won't work quite as well though, as the Midget comes with 4 gears instead of the 360's measly 3.
I *did* find out that dumping some money (R3 tires, Stg1 lightweight, trans) into a 360 yields a car that while still pathetically slow is an absolute blast to drive, as you can absolutely floor it through even the tightest corners and never ever ever have to brake on really any corner.
(I've yet to try that on Laguna Seca though, where that very last 90 degree corner can be a real *****)
So this, for the record, is the kind of stuff I spend a LOT of time doing in GT4, lol. This is why Forza doesn't do it for me, not enough 11hp ancient obscure microcars
